Safety
Safety
PartOfMyDay companions are AI, and they are not a substitute for professional or emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
The helpline banner
Each message you send is checked by OpenAI's moderation service. When that check flags a message in one of its self-harm categories (self-harm, self-harm intent, or self-harm instructions), the app shows a short banner above the message box: "If you're going through something hard, you don't have to handle it alone." with a link, "Find a helpline near you", that openshttps://findahelpline.com in your browser.
You will see this banner at most once in any 24-hour period. You can dismiss it at any time. It is part of the app screen, not a message from your companion.
What it does not change
The banner does not replace, block, or rewrite your companion's reply, and it does not change how your companion responds to you. Companions never give self-harm method information.
What we store
Moderation stores per-category flags and scores together with identifiers linking the result to your account and the message, not a second copy of the message text. The banner itself is recorded as a small record containing identifiers and a timestamp only. These records are removed if you delete your account. See the Privacy Policy for more.
